THE MAJESTIC
Ojo del Albino Glacier Trekking
Ojo del Albino Glacier Trekking trek is characterized by being demanding, but a unique opportunity to get to know 2 iconic places in the area: Laguna Esmeralda and Ojo del Albino Glacier. Our day starts so early that it gives us the possibility of reaching Laguna Esmeralda before the rest of the excursions from Ushuaia arrive. We continue along the lake and through the forest during 30 minutes till we start the real ascent. 1h30 up to 2h30 minutes to go to the glacier according the condition. There is one short part close to the arrival where you might use hands. In winter it is a steep snowy slope.
A challenging trek with stunning scenery, Ojo del Albino Glacier Trekking trek can be describe as a true challenge with a great reward.
Take into account that the experience is really different in winter ( from june to november) than in summer. In summer you can walk with crampons on the glacier and experience an authentic ice trekk. You will also enjoy the greenish color of Albino lake just in front of the glacier. In winter the lake freeze and is covered by snow so it is possible to walk on it and enjoy an amazing ice wall and sometimes caves.
It is important to be trained and have experience in long hikes to do this trekking, especially in winter : if you have recent snow, your guide is going to open tracks for you, nonetheless it can be really demanding. Gaters and waterproofs shoes are mandatories!
