Mountaineering Your Way

Mountain Climbing – Cerro Martial (PYRAMID)

Nestled behind the city of Ushuaia lies the Martial Mountain Range, home to our pyramid, a prominent peak that offers breathtaking views of the mountains hidden behind this very range. Toward the East the Beagle Channel flowing to the Atlantic, to the South chilean islands Host Y Navarino, to the West with good visibility you might see Darwin Range, to the north the Cerro Tonelly. Mountain Climbing – Cerro Martial allows you to realize where you are!

If you want to get started in mountaineering, we recommend Mountain Climbing – Cerro Martial. Both in winter and summer. It has challenging climbing sections and technical equipment may be needed depending on the time of year. The approach is made following the Martial ski slope to quickly leave the forest. We continue on steep slopes in the high Andes passing through balconies with a little more exposure. The last 300 meters we climb the sustained slope of the Pirámide.

Between June and December this part is snowy and the ascent can be more demanding. Specially after a snow storm! Avalanche equipment is required in Winter. You might cross Backcountry skiers as Glacier Martial and its surrounding is an amazing place to practice this activity!
