The Ultimate Fuegian Challenge

FROM THE ANDES, TO THE SEA

This trek is a quintessential Fuegian experience, a route designed to traverse its most characteristic landscapes, passing from valleys to its most emblematic mountains to the shores of the Beagle Channel. It is worth noting that a large part of this tour is done without trails, off the conventional circuits.

This tour is recommended for people with some experience in multi-day trekking but who can walk more than 8 hours per day.

Distance: 6.6 km
Elevation gain: 200 m

Day 2

After a good breakfast, we will begin a two-hour ascent out of the tree line to reach a pass to the Ojo del Albino Glacier. We will traverse this glacier with crampons. We will have lunch on the other side of the glacier, and then descend a scree field to the famous Laguna Esmeralda.

Our next refuge is located 2 hours from this site. There we will enjoy dinner accompanied by the warmth of a campfire.

Day 3

This is the longest stage of the trek. We will start the day by crossing National Route 3 to return to the forest. We will begin a gradual ascent to the bottom of the Olum Valley where a steep climb awaits us to the Col de los Gendarmes. We will reach this mountain pass from where we will enjoy the views of the Carbajal Valley and the Alvear Range.

We will continue along the Cerro Cinco Hermanos until we reach its lagoon. We will find ourselves in a hanging valley between the two most emblematic mountains of Ushuaia. Our new objective is the summit of Cerro Cloche and its views of the Beagle Channel. After enjoying the scenery between sea and mountains, we will begin our descent to the coast.

The transfer will wait for us at Baliza Escarpados and we will return to the city around 7 pm.
