What activities to do in high season in
Tierra del Fuego?

Southern summer (December to March): This is the most popular time to visit Tierra del Fuego, as the climate is warmer and drier. The average temperature is 10 °C. But you can experience excepcional days with 15° to 20 °C. The days are long, allowing you to make the most of outdoor activities. However, it is also the busiest time and prices can be higher.

Advantages: Warmer and longer days (sunset around 11pm, sunrise around 4:30pm, the driest months are january and february.

Disadvantages: Busier, higher prices.

What activities to do in low season in
Tierra del Fuego?

Southern autumn (April to May) and Southern spring (September to November): We highly recommend Ushuaia mid-April. The mountains are dressed in red, and with the snow-capped peaks Ushuaia offers spectacular panoramas. These seasons offer a cooler and more variable climate, with average temperatures ranging between 0°C and 10°C. The days are shorter, but there is still enough light to enjoy nature. The trails are usually less crowded and the prices are lower.

Advantages: Less crowded, lower prices.

Disadvantages: Cooler and more variable weather, shorter days, some trails may be closed due to snow or mud.

What activities to do in the southern winter in Tierra del Fuego?

Southern winter (June to October): The island experiences a cold, snowy climate, with average temperatures ranging between -5°C and 0°C. The days are short and the nights are long. If you like winter sports, such as skiing and snowboarding, this is the best time to visit Tierra del Fuego. If you do not climb nor ski, there are several winter treks of varying difficulty that you can do.

Advantages: Ideal for winter sports, snowy landscapes, less crowded.

Disadvantages: Cold, snowy weather, short days, some long trails in the National Park Tierra del Fuego are closed.
