Mount Olivia’s Tour Details

Time: Full Day

Experience: Level 4
Requires the use of technical equipment and advanced experience.

Physical Experience: Level 4 and 5
Significant elevation gain and long distances. Good physical condition, intermediate experience.
Extreme elevation gain and long distances. Very good physical condition, advanced experience.

What is the tour itinerary?

For all mountaineering and alpinism activities, the ascent route is determined based on weather conditions, terrain, client’s physical condition, and other factors that may change with the environment. For this purpose, a meeting is held with clients a few days before the activity to determine this factor and, consequently, the equipment to be used.

What equipment do I need to do this tour?

  • Semi-rigid or Rigid Mountaineering Boots
  • 2 pairs of gloves

  • 30/40 liter backpack

  • Gore-Tex jacket
  • Pants overpants

What physical condition do you need to have?

Intermediate-Advanced

  • Distance: 18-22 km round trip
  • Elevation gain: 1300 meters
  • Requirements: Good physical condition, intermediate trekking experience

Extreme

  • Distance: 25-30 km round trip
  • Elevation gain: 1500 meters
  • Requirements: Very good physical condition, advanced mountain trekking experience

Both options:

  • Offer stunning panoramic views of Ushuaia and the Andes mountain range.
  • Traverse subantarctic forests, peat bogs, and rocky terrain.
  • Require proper physical preparation and previous trekking experience.
  • Hiring an experienced guide is recommended, especially for Option 2.
  • A permit is required to access the Monte Olivia Protected Natural Area.

  • Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and terrain.
  • Protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen and a hat.
  • Bring enough water and food for the trail.
