TOWERS OF THE CHICO RIVER

Designed to experience a vertical landscape without requiring previous experience in multi-day trekking. This trek is characterized by its versatile personality, adaptable to the levels of each client without losing the essence of the tour. The days can vary between 4 and 6 hours of walking, with the Base Camp modality (sleeping the 2 nights in the same place) having the possibility of doing a full day of trekking comfortably without carrying a backpack or extra weight.

A proposal to spend quality time in the mountains and get to know exceptional places in the Fueguian Cordillera.

Towers of the Chico River´s Tour Details

Time: 2 to several days of Activity

Experience: Level 2
Requires the use of technical elements without prior experience.

Physical Experience: Level 4
Significant elevation gain and long distances. Good physical condition, intermediate experience.

What is the tour itinerary?

Day 1

Start: The hike begins near the city of Ushuaia, where we enter the Chico River Valley and gradually ascend, crossing mountain streams, the Friends’ Waterfall, peat bogs, and beaver dams. In 4 hours, we reach our campsite.

Optional:

  • Carbajal Valley Viewpoint (2-hour trek)
  • Punta Chloe (2-hour trek)

In the afternoon, we will have a snack again and enjoy the campsite until dinner is served.

Duration: Approximately 4 hours Distance: 6.6 km (4.1 miles) Elevation gain: 300 m (984 feet)

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast, we set off for the base of the Torres del Río Chico.

We will ascend to the North Ridge where we will cross into the Lagoons Valley. There we will enjoy the colors of Matamico Lagoon, Chimango Lagoon, and Halcón Lagoon.

We will return to the campsite for dinner.

Duration: Approximately 6 hours Distance: 6.6 km (4.1 miles) Elevation gain: 484 m (1,588 feet)

Day 3

Return to Ushuaia: We break down the camp and return to Ushuaia in the afternoon, arriving at the transfer pick-up point.

What physical condition do you need to have?
